The staple in Chimei is
ˇ§cultivating small-abalones.ˇ¨ Since Mr. Luqizong has
successfully bred the small abalones in the 70 years of
R.O.C. Era, there are thirteen cultivating farms for small
abalones. From the north airport to the south airport
sequentially are: Luqihui, Luchengzhi, Luchengwang, Luzhiyu,
Liuzizhong, Zhushunjian, Yechangmao, Luqiyan, Lijianxing,
Xuwenqing, Zhengbaihong, Xiawenzhou and Zhangsuzhong. So
many farms make the neighborhood of the airport in Pingho
Village a ˇ§Special Area for Cultivating Small Abalones.ˇ¨
Presently, the cultivating industries have contributed the
working opportunities and economic development to the
inhabitants in Chimei. The sea area in Chimei is so clean
without any pollution; as the result, the seafood is fresh
and delicious which has gotten the public praise.
After the cultivating of small abalones has succeeded,
someone started to experiment the breeding of abalones and
lobsters, we look forward to their success. Besides, Mr.
Luqiyan has started to breed more marine creatures to reduce
the risks in cultivating the small abalones. He tries to
breed some high-economy fish and conger eels to create the
secondary cultivating industry. |

1. Hua Xin Airlines
provides 1 or 2 flights departing from Kaohsiung
every day; besides, the tourists could also take a
ferry, two voyages per day between Chimei and
Kaohsiung |

every day. Besides, the tourists could also take the
public boats (Chimei & Hengan No. 1) on 9:00 a.m.

It takes people about fifteen to
twenty minutes from Nanhu Port Northwestwards by
vehicle. The small-abalones Cultivating Farms are located in
the place near the west of the airport. The tourists could
stay longer to take a short-period visit. Presently, most of
the aquaculturers will allow the outsiders to take a look.
Furthermore, the host will friendly to explain the
procedures of cultivating the small-abalones and entertain
the visitors with a just-scooped small-abalones meal
hospitably. The tourists could also buy some fresh and
inexpensive small-abalones before leaving. |
