Fishery

 Inshore fishing is currently the major industry in Chimei, and one of the main incomes for the residents. There is Nanchien fishing ground in southeast Chimei, the best location for Penghu fishermen to compete their skills. The main catch in winter are Narrow barred Spanish mackerel、cobia、pleurostigma. And in summer, they are fishing farmed fish、tubule、Silver anchovy、Wuweitung. Moreover, Chimei has a fishing catch purchaser and two ice lands which provide fishing boats. That makes both of them convenient for fishermen to catch fish and sell fish.

There are 3-6 people on inshore fishing boat including the captain and crew. Mostly local people rather than China fishermen are hired. Therefore, the “boat” has become the main source of a family’s income, the essential production instrument for Chimei people.
