Taiwanese abalone aquaculture, Chemei’s another staple economical products, had the scale of 13 reproduction farms one after another since Lu Chi Chung first made the successful experiment in R.O.C 70. From north airport to south airport, they are of Lu Chi Hui, Lu Sheng Chih, Lu Sheng Wan, Lu Chih Yi, Liu Chih Tsung, Chu Shuen Chien, Yeh Chang Mao, Lu Chi Yen, Lee Chien Hsing, Hsu Wen Ching, Cheng Pai Hung, Hsia Wen Chou, and Chang Su Chung, making the area around airport of Pingho Village just like a Taiwanese abalone aquaculture specialized area. Right now the cultivation contributed quite a lot to Chemei Township people’s economy and employment.

Right now Taiwanese abalone aquaculture has two main kinds, one is pearl Taiwanese abalone, cultivated with Gracilaria sp. delivered from Taiwan Main Island. The other one is emerald Taiwanese abalone, cultivated with specialized feed. Nowadays, except for cultivation, companies have already been able to breed it to provide themselves and export to Taiwan or Magong Main Isalnd.

Chimei sea area is clean and uncontaminated. The cultivated Taiwanese abalone tastes fresh and smells great, quite winning general people’s praises. In recent years, Township Office has promoted Chimei Taiwanese abalone so hardly. In July and August of every year, they all conducted a taste fair. This year they also had “Taiwanese Abalone Fine Foods Festival.
