Because of being affected by
climate factors such as the burning sun, dry, monsoon etc.,
the landscape of Chimei plants is that the regolith is
shallow, and the soil contents low organic matters. Since
the island has smooth rises and falls and does not have any
natural protective structure plus the impact of other
external influences, plants looks quite the same and does
not have a lot of variety. Generally, most of the plants
growing in Chimei islet have the shape features of crawling
to grow, growing from every joints, fat stems and leaves, or
hiding roots and hiding stems, character of deep roots etc.
According to the distribution of plants, the plant
communities in Chemei can be roughly divided into 3 main
kinds:Seashore plant community (pomoea pescaprae subsp.,
Jackbean, Limonium sinense, Vitex rotundifolia L.F etc.) ,
herbaceous plant community(Bidens chilensis., Cardiospermum
halicabum L., Cyperus rotundus L., Leucaena leucocephala,
Hibiscus tiliaceus L., Lentinan, White Cogongrass, Solanum
incanum, Cirsium japonicum, Bidens pilosa., Natal grass,
Herba Eleusines Indicae, Celosia argentea Linn, Ixeris
chinensis (Thunb) Nakai, Compositac., crowfoot grass, Rumex
crispus, Xanthium strumarium L. var. japonica (widder) Hera,
Gaillardia pulchella, Lantana camara, Thorn-Apple, Casuarina
equisetifolia Forst., Chimei grass, etc), and agricultural
economical crops(peanut, sorghum, sweet potato, sweet corn)
Right after Summer comes to Chimei island, the measure of
green plants is quite wide. Besides general herbaceous
plants will be thriving, especially Leucaena leucocephala
the most and Lanata camara the second, the earth is with
abundant green. However, when it comes to winter, the earth
becomes desolate when the Northeast monsoon blows by; the
leaves of Leucaena leucocephala all fall down and bald
trunks left. On the other side, some Lanata camaras which
can bear the wind bloom with colorful and vivid flowers,
forming another special view in winter. |
