The terrain in Chemie islet is flat, lacking the environment of Taiwan Main Island such as high mountains, forests, or rivers and lakes where birds can perch and propagate. Chimei islet stands in the relay shop along roads of migratory birds. In seasons of migrant every year, there are always numerous kinds of birds flying in the sky.

The habitats of birds in Chimei are mainly around Chimei reservoirs. In another places, fishing farms are the habitats for birds such as egrets¡Bteals, migratory birds etc. As for resident birds, they generally show up in scattered beefwoods¡Bfarmlands or banks of reservoirs every where¡C
Moreover, the two kinds of resident birds, sparrows and little skylarks, are the most common birds which have the biggest amount. The species are a little different from the ones in Taiwan, belonging to different subspecies.

From January to April every year is the busiest season for birds¡¦ migrant activities in Chimei. At this time, the kinds and amounts of birds reach the highest point in the whole year. After May, the activities are fewer. In June and July, it¡¦s the period there are fewest kinds of birds. From September to December in fall, the numbers are the second biggest; it¡¦s time for migratory birds flying south to spend winter. Therefore, there are still lots of kinds and numerous migratory birds and winter birds.
