The
pottery works of Tseng Ming Nan have a simple and
strong modeling technique, showing forth the life of
clay, describing the unique character of clay, and
containing the traditional arts philosophy of
coupling hardness with softness and the unique glaze
color. The traditional family ethics of family ship
and friendship was once the spirit intension of
Tseng Min Nan¡¦s works. Because he was born in one of
Penghu¡¦s
offshore island, the commonly used subject matter of
fish, chicken, cattle and sheep has a great number
of things to do with his childhood background.
Besides pottery creation, Tseng Ming Nan preached
¡§Taiwan Arts Avenue¡¨ and founded an association to
advance it enthusiastically in order to promote the
development of Taiwan Arts and Culture. He also
prepared the formation of a national pottery
association¡XTaiwan Pottery Association. Through the
inspection and learning from member¡¦s work, it is
hoped that the creation of modern pottery could open
up a better future. |
