Personal Profile: Chen-qian-kun was born
on 12th Oct, 1904, at Da-chi village of Xi-yu
township, but moved and settled at Chong-quing borough
of Magong city. At the age of 16, he left for Kao-shiung,
living as student worker and graduated at Private Nan-peng
Commerical Cram School of Kao-shiung. At the age of 20,
he passed the examination of Kao-shiung Inspection
Teaching Center and a year later he again passed the
test of Police Training Center of Taiwan Governor
Office. Both of his graduation grades came out on top.
Chen was an outstanding police officer during the
Japanese colonial rule. After the Restoration, he
continued to serve for the police force till 1950 when
he ran for county legislator. He was elected the
legislator of the First County Assembly of the 2nd
administrative area. Thereafter, he renewed his term of
office and was elected for the second and third County
Assembly. Chen acted as the mouthpiece of people and
served them at his best thus received high opinion and
compliments. In 1963, he was diagnosis apoplexy and
hence after lived in privacy. It was a pity that he
died on his bed in July 1979, aged 76. Mr. Chen¡¦s
Japanese attainment was excellent and has taken the
Japanese translation several times when he served as
police officer and legislator. Chen was an industrious,
humble old man. |
