Cactus, planted in the areas between west India
and Mexico, was introduced to Taiwan in 1645, and broadly
scatters in PengHu due to its suitability to sand shores. The
popular specie in PengHu shore is aciculate cactus with
beautiful yellow flowers in summer and dark red bacca fruits.
The fruit is eatable and full of Vitamin C, tasting sour and
sweet, so called as PengHu Red Apple. TongLiang villagers have
been devoted to developing cactus ice in recent years, to make
it popular in Cross-sea Bridge Scenery Zone. However, limited
by production, the special food can only be sold by small
vendors. |
