Niaoyu is located in the east of Chikan Village, Baisha Township, on the sea of the northern part of Huxi Township. It takes the tourists fifteen minutes to set out from Qitou Village by boat. The islet is named due to the seabird stayed in the early years. The coming and the development of human beings made the seabirds move. However, there are still kinds of seabirds come and stay for food. During the populated islets of Baisha Township, the density of inhabitants in Niaoyu is only lower than in Jibei. The islanders make a living by fishery; as a result, typical lifestyle in a fishing village could be perceived everywhere. In summer, three or five women in diving suit go to sea by boat to collect the shellfish. The basalt stands in great numbers in the eastern coast of this island. In the north, the surface of Nanmianguayu lays over a coat of red piecemeal gravel caused by weathering and the lowest level is full of volcano breccia. The shape of this islet is like Fushi Mountain while people is looking at it far into the distance. The landscape is elegant. It links with Niaoyu on ebb, and is an important tourism resource of it. Now the islet is listed as a Basalt Reservation Area.

The ship routes for the yacht companies are different in Baisha Township. Roughly, they are divided into the Northeast Sea Line and North Sea Line. The tourists could take a one-day tour to the islated islands areound or two-day tour to stay overnight and take the early shipboat back to Qitou Wharf and then proceed to Chikan Wharf for the transportation to the other courses by speedboat
