Mudouyu, located at the extremely north in Pengfu Archipelagoes and composed of basalt, is a necessary ship route for merchant ships around. The submerged reefs Daqiao and Erqiao distribute side by side; as a result, there is an adage spread: “The most dangerous is the hard barren land, the next is the roars of the waves”. The reefs make it the most dangerous and difficult route in Pengfu County. According to the the records of Pengfu Ting, there is a title of this place: Iron-plate Pass. Japanese Government built a lighthouse here due to the shipwrecks take place continuously in Mudouyu Sea Area in 1899. The lighthouse is with the height of 50 meters and the paint of black-white stripes. The lighthouse is equipped with petrolized incandescent lamp of five hundred thousand candlelights which flashes twenty seconds in a once and is with a visible distance of 19 sea miles.
