Baisha (White Sand) Islet, located at the north ocean of Baisha Island, was named by the tract of white sandy beach in the southwest of the islet and was customly called a Cat Islet by local fishermen due to the basalt is shaped as a black cat bending over the.ocean while people look far from the southwest ocean. Along the south bank of the islet are various of columned basalt joints. The elegant and curved columned basalts, spread over the east and south banks with the length about 300 meters and the height of more than 20 meters, are very glorious. The joints of the columned basalts, the golden sandy beach and the weathering rock shaped as the bean curd are visible everywhere in the islet. Every spring here comes various kinds of terns stay and breed on the basalt wall, then fly away till August or September.
This islet has listed as the Basalt Reservation Area.
