From the point of view of the older
generation in Baisha, Gupoyu is a mysterious and legendary
islet, which is also the biggest uninhabited islet in the North
Sea. The islet presents the trend from south to north with the
length of one kilometer and mainly contains the square mountains
and tablelands composed by four lands and three little
isthmuses. On the north coast is a tract of platform of marine
abrasion, and on both south and north sides of the east coast
are natural gulfs of white sandy beaches.
There is a monument to commemorate the wreck of English Vessels,
which is also the tiptop of this area. The eastern side of the
islet is a famous fish farm for silver anchovy in the North Sea.
The southeast sea area is full of magnificent corals. The tract
of platform of marine abrasion on the north coast is the famous
production place of natural, superior lavers because of being
sprinkled with waves. The villagers of Chikan will take the
vessels to collect the lavers in recovery season every winter.
The sceen that people pluck the lavers in group composed an
unusual spectacle on the sea. |
