The sea area in east coast of Baisha Township is where Black Current flows by. The distribution density of coral along the coast is the No. 1 in the whole township. Many coasts are wide distribution areas of coral reeves such as Chihtou, Chenhai, Chihkan, Houliao, Tungliang, the coast around Jebei Islet where all have pile-up of coral lime fragments which informal name is Lintsai. With the advantage of natural environment, limekilns were built up to produce lime to supply the traditional houses made of Laoku stone to fulfill the need of building materials.From the Japanese occupied period to R.O.C 60s was the abundant production period of lime to respond to the increasing construction of houses in every village of the township and offshore islands. After R.O.C 60s, the production quantity decreased in a short time since the building materials were commonly changed to cement. In recent years, the lime industry declined because the regular operation couldn’t be maintained.
