On Dec. 24th, the day for Farewell to God, general families farewell to their kitchen gods back to heaven, but on Dec. 23rd in BaiSha Country.  In PengHu full of folklore, farewell ceremonies are extremely emphasized that people put maltose in the censer for expecting kitchen god to have ¡¥sweet¡¦ reports about the family to Heaven God.  However, when the old stoves are gradually replaced by gas stoves in kitchen, the custom appears declining.  The legend is that kitchen god in each family, sent by Heaven God, has to back report at the end of year as basis for punishment and praises to the family, therefore, when Farewell To God, the day gods returning to the heaven, families shall start their cleaning and replacement with new stuffs.

In the afternoon of Dec.23rd, people will clean and filter-screen accumulated ash in censers, mop the dedication table, and wipe dusts and spider nets inside and outside house, so called as ¡§Cleaning accumulations¡¨.  Three kinds of meats, four kinds of fruits, candies and cookies, and paper money are prepared for offering, paper printed with ¡§armor and horse¡¨ are burned for paying respects to kitchen god.     Time of Farewell to God is believed better for earlier, that God may earlier arrive at the heaven, as the folk say ¡§Early Farewell and Late Receive¡¨.  In the whole afternoon, constant firecracker sounds bring blissful joys of new year.
