The four villages of Peisha Township, Chitou, Kangtzu, Chenhai, Chiangmei, formed a complete internal bay called Chitouwan. There are extensive tidal flat and full of animals, the seaweed distributed in Chitouwan are Halophila ovalis and Halodule pinifolia often seen. There is the largest amount of existing clan in Penghu, and they also distributed in front village of the township. The importance of seaweed not only builds many different ecosystems, stables coast line, provides food for different animals and the place for refuging enemies to raise production, but also recycles nutritional matters that is the place many fishes foster young fishes in economics.Formerly the distribution of seaweeds in Chitouwan was very extensively, However because of the change in the habitat environment, for example, cementitious coast, dredging the river course in port, and construction for harbor and river engineering, the wave reacting force strengthened, coast silt was stricken to expose laccolith so that caused suspension particles and water temperature to raise or the habitats of seaweeds were covered by sea silt. That made seaweed dead and reduce the animals habited near seaweeds indirectly, Crustacean Gun shrimp (common name: Grass shrimp) was a sample.Except abundant seaweed swamps, Hsiangchu Sea pan and Gun shrimp growing lushly in the area features the most. The area is also the habitat for many fishes, shrimps, and shellfishes to reproduce offspring, and should be established ecology reserve soon to protect the most featured ecosystem in the township.
