Dike terrain appears in Shanshui Neighborhood and Shuokang
Neighborhood of Pengnan District and Shihwei Neighborhood in the
City. One or a couple of dikes exposed to wave erosion platform
or surface. Every time when the waters are down, we can see
dikes just exposed in front of us if we take a carefully look.
So next time when you come to the beach, do not forget to look
at the tidal flat after waters are down to see whether there is
a water column like or long bar shaped rock layer. The dikes in
Shanshui and Shuokang go from west to east in the length of 50
meters separately. Generally, after the top layer was eroded, we
can see the uncovered dikes. |

Dike, (or called the block of rocks or wall of rocks) are formed
because that the lava invaded into nearby rock¡¦s fracture and
solidified. It is a nearly slate-shaped erect invaded rock.
Beside the basalt of silicon and alkalinity, there are a kind of
dikes made of Glenmuirite along the coast of Shanshui and
Suokang. Glenmuirite is an alkaline rock with the small gray
invaded rock bed invaded into the rock layer of basalts. The
main components are fine crystalline to middle crystalline
augite and plagioclase, following the ilmenite and olivine with
long and thing splits in slate or arrow shapes. The stomas of
this rock often have sub minerals of quartz or jade. |
