Beichen Market was called
¡§Tucheng¡¨ by local grand old men before.
In 1977, it was mapped out to be a new market
because Wenkang Market was not big enough
for people running business. From
then on, the market moved northward from
south and people gathered northwards.
It was planned and built in 1983 with the
station about 3,500 square meters.
The market was built in two floors with
38 stores
and 179 stalls. It was finished construction
and also started using in 1984. After
that, a great quantity of dealers came and
sold things here and made this market the
biggest one both in Makung and in Pengfu.
Every early morning, people gather here;
especially on holidays, people are just
like the streams come and go. The
market has become the commercial center
of daily necessities in Makung.
