Tabacoo
& Wine Board is located at Minsheng
Road. It is the monopoly store
of Taiwan Governor-general
Government in Pengfu during Japan-control
period and is in charge of tabacoo,
wine and the necessity of daily life,
such as salt, oil and match.In
2002, it renamed to be Taiwan Tabacoo
& Wine Co., Ltd. Makung Division
subordinated to Kaohsiung Branch.
The whole building are built U-shaped
and the style of the construction
is like a halfway house. The
entrance is located at the middle
of the construction, and the hallway
and the turret are
designed to be a two-floor, semicircle
shape with the decoration of chess
stripes. Besides, there is an
air-raid shelter, built in Japan-control
period, located at the north side
of Tabacoo & Wine Board.
The residents here hid inside to avoid
the air raid of American military
planes. There is also Makung
Institute-Zhongzheng Hall built after
the Restoration of Taiwan around to
be the place for public assembly.
The appearance of this hall has still
remained it original architectural
style.
