PengHu Reclamation Hall, belonging to Cultural Bureau, as the
former residence of PingHu manager during Japanese governance
period and PengHu County Magistrate after Taiwan¡¦s restoration,
is located on the east side of PengHu County Government and the
first example of preserving and reusing public historical
buildings. The Hall, built on the site with total area of 2,001
square meters, has its indoor area of 320 square meters and is
planted with banyans over 100 years old and tall Terminalia
Catappa in garden, the seldom-seen qualified relaxing space.
It¡¦s the stereotype of building in Japanese ¡§Ta ch¡¦eng / Chao
he¡¨ period. The style combines features of East and West:
circular windows, European style eight-angled windows, wooden
door of Renaissance, light-colored wall, Japanese tile roof and
door, short wall made of mao-kung rock; the whole building is
full of historical feature. Inside the hall, there is an
exhibition of PingHu¡¦s historical interests and data---
including 8 divisions covering history, immigration, village,
war, traffic, political, economic and cultural and education
development, current construction condition, and reading PingHu,
and chronology of the Hall in order. Here is the start point in
journey of exploring PengHu, as well as the live classroom to
know about pioneer¡¦s reclamation. |

There
are exhibitions focusing on cultural relics, with important
collections of pre-history pottery ware and slices, and
historical information stored in reading room. The building was
built at the same period with PengHu County Government Hall (the
former PengHu Office House), both registered as historical
building of PengHu in Year 91 of ROC. |
