historyˇG |
|
It was built
in 1696 by Xuekui and mainly offered sacrifices
to Guanyin. It has been repaired for many
times since it was built. In 1885, Guanyinting
was destroyed in Chinese-France War and
was rebuilt after the war and was finished
in 1886. It was made up again in 1891 but
was destroyed again soon during the Sino-Japanese
War of 1894 to 1895. In 1927, Japanese Government
rebuilt it and added Fude Shrine in it after
Japanese Occupation. In 1929, the evening
drum and morning bell was added to Guanyinting.
In 1957 Pengfu Government constructed it
again due to serious damage by ants, and
it is the present construction. |

characteristicˇG |
|
The construction
feature of Guanyinting is the arrangement
of the depth. The left and the right defending
dragons pasted tightly upon both sides of
the main gates between the Shanchuan Front
Palace and the Main Palace. Besides, there
is a base of hexagonal bell-drum tower.
By the sides of the huge palace are the
wing-room of the Dragon King and Yangci
Hall. In front of the temple are a couple
of male and female lions, composed by the
lime, the glutinous rice and the syrup,
are rare in Taiwan. Traditional huge timbers
structured the main construction. Some parts
of the construction has replaced by the
pillars of reinforced concrete due to the
repair in modern times. Furthermore, there
is a stone lion in the pavilion with special
appearance, which is rare in Taiwan. Guanyinting,
locates southeast and faces northeast, is
a temple construction with five-open, three-entrance,
a small courtyard with two defending dragons,
and the worshipping pavilion in Makung. |
