  characteristicˇG

The building characteristic of the Scholar Residence is the concaved shape with the width of 4.5 meters and the depth of 3.3 meters approximately. On the main hall is a small veranda with rolling sheds, which are almost destroyed due to disrepair. However, the façade of the main hall is composed by wooden squares-fans, which is very elegant. The wing-room of the residence is in horseback style and the roofing is the swallow-tailed ridge, and which makes it the only residence with the swallow-tailed type in Pengfu. The other structures and decorations are also very delicate in the residence. Due to the descendants of Cai Family did not repair or rebuild this building in large-scale, the whole construction has been maintained till now. However the condition of this construction now is not well because it was worn down by the years without repair. There is a basalt board in script ˇ§Scholar Residenceˇ¨ above the door at the entrance. On the left and right sides were the circle windows with the painting of flowers and birds but now it is with pebbledash.
