Four-eye Well
was a public well dug by the residents.
There was no record about this well; as
a result, the digging year and the time
to divide it into four parts are unknown.
One thing could be sure is this well is
closely linked the development of Makung
Old Street (Zhongyang Street). As a result,
it might be existed when people inhabited
a region on Dangding Street (the north section
of Zhongyang Street) in Ching Dynasty. If
so, this well at least has existed for more
than three hundred years.

Four-eye well
was a big well before. In order to prevent
people from dropping into it, the residents
mantled the well with six pieces of granite
stripes and built the brink by laying red
bricks on the stone stripes and covered
the concrete on the bricks.
Now it is whitewashed by the cement and
weaved by granite rings. The Four-eye Well
not only supplied the water for drinking
or other utilization for the inhabitants
on the north side of Zhongyang Street but
also supplied the functions of folk custom
for people to worship the Well-Mom and to
beg the water. It was also the activities
space for women in daily life. The rapid
transit of time made the Four-eye Well to
be the second role for the residents to
wash daily articles due to the tap-water
has been supplied all day long since 1934.
