Tidal flat industry in Magong City is a by work of living or recreation activity during leisure times. Because the tidal flat exposed at downs has a variety of natural ecology, many skills become local features. These skills include Shihhu, picking spiral shells, Chienku, reaping seaweeds and breaking oyster etc. For the residents, they are mainly sources of won food and goods for sale. Shihhu in a decreased traditional industry, and right now only the places such as Wute, Fengkuei, and Hsiwei etc. have few people doing it. Picking spiral shells is nearly the most popular fishery activity among tidal flat industry with the limitation of seasons. Chienku is a fishery activity of groups. Shanshui and Shihli etc. are all ideal operation spots. Nowadays only Shihli still has few operations sometimes or the use of transformed recreation fishery.
