Marine life here is defined as fish ecology, and the focus is placed on the distribution of fish species in several areas of Magong City. Because the fish species are too many, it only states the common fish species in Magong briefly by area characteristics. Magong city processes natural internal sea areas and sea areas along the coast, making it have a variety of fish resources. Coastal waters of villages, internal sea of Magong City, external sea of Wukan, the surrounding area of Kuanyingting Shihkung Reef and Huching are all fishing grounds. These fishing grounds breed a lot of fish species. If we separate the kinds of fish by fishing period, they are three seasons of spring, summer and fall. From December to March, they are mainly Narrow-barred Spanish mackerel and Scomberomorus guttatus. From March to August, they are catch such as Etrumeus tereo, Spratelloides gracilis and¢Ólops hawaiensis etc. As for mullets, it shows up during September to October. Moreover, the main production of each area is different with different catching skills. Small sized fish such as Spratelloides gracilis and Etrumeus tereo appear mostly in Shihli. Squid, scomberomorus commerson, Scomberomorus guttatus, shrimps¡]Parapenaeopsis hungerfordi Alcock¡^, Euthynnus pelamis are the main catch in Ssukang. In Wukang, there are squid, Siganus fuscescens, groupers, Lungchien fish and Lethrinus nebulosus etc. The catch in Shanshuei are langoustine, crabs, Pagrus major etc. In Fengkuei, it is calamary as the main catch. Those fishing catch are mostly from the environment of inshore areas, and generally are seasonal and migrant fish.
